Bhairab Kunda in Sanskrit means holy lake named after the destructive image of Lord Shiva, the Bhairav. It is located to the northeast of Kathmandu next to the Panch Pokhari and closer to Nepal-Tibetan border. The starting point for the trek is Jalbire in the Araniko Highway. The settlements on the route form Newars, Gurungs and Sherpas as majorities. The top of Bhairab Kunda offers an excellent view of Rolwaling range, Jugal Himal and Tibetan Himalayan.
